Job Description

Administers or makes recommendations for personnel matters affecting subordinates, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, granting leave, appraising and disciplining, etc. Responsible for the integrity, accuracy, integration, and interoperability of the Library's web based catalog, online resources and other information access and retrieval systems. Responsible for the Library’s website and Intranet, including the day-to-day management of content (editorial, graphical, etc.), ensuring timeliness and consistency, and technical support/troubleshooting for the Internet as needed. Ensures the Library’s electronic environment is aligned with its strategic directions and objectives. Works with Library staff and external stakeholders as needed to determine the content and layout of the website and Intranet. Provides advice and guidance with regard to content review/approval; eCommerce; accessibility; 508 compliance; Web standards, etc. to Library staff. Coordinates web and social networking with individuals, groups, units and departments and determines web technologies which support improved two-way commmunication between library users and JCPL. Works with area library colleagues to develop strategies, techniques, and best practices for using emerging technologies web design. Oversees the design and creation of web forms that support online library services. Optimizes video/multimedia for a variety of uses, including online streaming. Monitors site statistics, user feedback and web-related research to anticipate future needs. Works with the Jefferson County Library Foundation and Friends organizations to design and maintain their websites.

Additional Info & Requirements

This position will occasionally need to be available on an as needed basis as critical needs arise - like building closures due to a snow storm.Three years of experience managing web services, web design and web site construction.
