
Job Description
Consistent with and supportive of CTU’s mission (to provide industry-relevant higher education to a diverse student population through innovative technology and experienced faculty, enabling the pursuit of personal and professional goals), the Librarian provides quality and innovative services and meaningful engagement with our students to successfully achieve the relevant library and university outcomes and support their academic success.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- This position requires availability to work evening and occasional weekend hours to meet the needs of students and academic programming.
- Provide comprehensive support for all initiatives under the Embedded Librarian Program.
- Deliver accessible and timely reference and research assistance via Messenger, email, phone, video conferencing, and LibChat.
- Develop and conduct virtual instruction sessions, workshops, and webinars on information literacy, digital literacy, data literacy, and AI literacy.
- Provide academic writing guidance, APA formatting instruction, and strategies for avoiding plagiarism; serve as a university APA expert.
- Provide comprehensive support and instruction for citation management software, including EndNote.
- Collaborate with academic departments to align library services and resources with curriculum needs.
- Create and maintain asynchronous library resources, including tutorial videos, LibGuides, and digital handouts.
- Conduct one-on-one virtual sessions with students to support their academic success, focusing on research techniques, curricular resource utilization, and digital literacy.
- Support institutional and organizational research and publishing activities for students and faculty, including serving on the Doctoral Library Team.
- Participate in departmental assessment, data collection initiatives, and user feedback analysis to improve services.
- Facilitate library outreach initiatives to support curricular and research needs.
- Maintain professional, compassionate, and student-centered communication while supporting adult learners from a variety of backgrounds.
- Refer students to appropriate campus resources as needed (e.g., advising, tutoring, learning centers, career services).
- Maintain expertise on all library services and tasks, and cover responsibilities in the absence of a team member as needed.
- Ensure compliance with copyright policies and serve as a university resource on copyright matters.
- Perform other duties as assigned in alignment with departmental policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities, Competencies
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with proficiency in meeting deadlines and urgency in responding to questions/requests.
- Strong interpersonal and oral presentation/written communication skills.
- Proficiency in working collaboratively and flexibly in a team environment.
- Proficiency with standard office and mobile applications (i.e., word processing, presentations, e-mail, calendaring, teleconferencing, text messaging, personal computers, and smart phones/tablets).
Qualifications
Education and Experience: Minimum
- Master of Library Science (MLS) or equivalent from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (or international equivalent).
- 2+ years working in a university or college library.
Education and Experience: Preferred
- Experience with information literacy instruction.
- Experience developing asynchronous learning materials.
- Experience teaching in a for-profit, higher education institution.

This position will work a remote schedule Monday-Friday, from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm MST (12:00-8:00 pm CST). This is a reference and instruction heavy role.
