This is a part-time position with full-time impact. These libraries serve a range of customers and support patient care and treatment. Our patrons include both health professionals and adults with long-term/chronic severe mental health conditions. You will have an impact through education, research, readers’ advisory, and ultimately, contribute to our patients’ recovery.

These libraries offer the opportunity to do a bit of everything. On any given day you may be finding articles for staff on treatment, deciding which new books to order for the patient library, filling ILLs, keeping up with new technology and new developments in the field of mental health, and promoting library services. At the CMHHIFL libraries we strive to reduce barriers to information access. For instance, taking a library cart to all 6 treatment units each week means that every patient has access to the Patient Library collection; delivering materials to our busy 24-7 staff ensures that they all have access to our Staff Library resources.
CMHHIFL is one of two state psychiatric hospitals serving Colorado residents with acute mental illnesses and/or court-ordered inpatient restoration treatment. Our vision is to provide exemplary inpatient psychiatric care to residents in Colorado with acute, serious and persistent mental health needs. CMHHIFL provides inpatient treatment to adult clients generally between the ages of 18 and 59. The hospital has 94 civil adult inpatient beds and 44 forensic beds. Medical, rehabilitation services (physical, occupational and speech therapy) and clinical programming are available to clients based on their treatment needs. CMHHIFL supports hope, health and recovery through innovative, evidence-based, and individualized patient care.
The Medical Library meets the informational, educational, and research-related needs of the clinical, administrative, and support services staff members and students in clinical training. We provide current journals and books, reference services, document delivery, ILL, and manage the databases and catalog.
The Patient Library provides current books, magazines, ebooks, and audiobooks for recreational and educational reading for all clients.
