Lincoln City Libraries currently has a part-time (20 hours per week) Library Service Associate position available primarily assigned to the Bookmobile as part of the Outreach team, serving as a Bookmobile driver and supporting outreach efforts. Early work and training will primarily occur at Bennett Martin Public Library (136 S 14th Street, Lincoln, NE 68508) with some occurring at the Eiseley Branch Library (1530 Superior Street, Lincoln, NE 68521). Following the training period, the position will be based at the home location for one of the new Bookmobiles, which is still to be determined at this time. This position is not eligible for insurance benefits. This position is eligible for Holiday Pay and will accrue Vacation and Sick Leave. This position is eligible for the retirement plan after completing six months of employment.
As this position is assigned to the Bookmobile and will be operating a City vehicle, the successful applicant will be required to possess a valid driver’s license.
Library Service Associates are front-line staff, providing excellent customer service to the public. Tasks include assisting with the checkout of materials, issuing library cards, providing technology assistance, recommending materials to customers, promoting library programs and online resources, assisting with the access and use of library resources, and processing payments on customer accounts. They may also be involved in presenting library programs. This position will provide Bookmobile and Outreach services, including driving the Bookmobile to regularly scheduled stops and special events within the City of Lincoln and Lancaster County.
Scheduled work hours will be assigned and could be during any of the following times: 9 a.m. to 8:05 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6:05 p.m. Friday, 9:35 a.m. to 6:05 p.m. Saturday, and 11:35 a.m. to 8:05 p.m. Sunday. Position may occasionally be required to work times outside of these hours for scheduled Outreach events. Schedules will vary week-to-week and this position will be required to work daytime, evening, and weekend hours. While all positions are assigned to a primary branch or service unit, staff may be assigned to work at any branch location. Hours may be assigned at multiple branches in a single workday.

Minimum Qualifications/Necessary Special Requirements
Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent and six months of experience in providing customer service to the public; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.
Necessary Special Requirement: Possession of a valid driver's license.
