
The Marmot Library Network, a Colorado-based nonprofit consortium of academic, public, and school libraries, is seeking a Workstation Technician I to join our IT Services team. This position is essential in supporting the technology that powers our member libraries, offering an opportunity to make a direct impact on library staff and end users across Colorado.
About the Role
As a Workstation Technician, you’ll provide hands-on and remote support for computer hardware, peripherals, and software. You’ll troubleshoot technical issues, maintain inventory, and ensure a seamless technology experience for library staff and patrons. This role requires technical skill, effective communication, and a strong customer service mindset.

Monday
- Working with members on service requests, walk-through of Mesa County locations
Tuesday
- Helping a library move equipment from one location to another, meeting with IT and SysAdmin team
Wednesday
- Helping a library move equipment from one location to another
Thursday
- Working with members on service requests, after-hours install trip to Delta County
Friday
- Meeting, working with members on service requests, on-site trip to Fruita
Key Responsibilities
- Regular travel to member libraries for device installation and maintenance
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, including scripting or automation (nice-to-have)
- Communicate clearly with end users and IT team members, ensuring a positive support experience
- Maintain an organized inventory of parts and document all technical work in asset management/ticketing systems (e.g., Jira Assets)
- Provide prompt, high-quality technical support both on-site and remotely (using RDP, RustDesk, Dameware, etc.)
- Troubleshoot basic networking issues and connectivity devices
- Support and troubleshoot peripheral device interfaces (USB, HDMI, DisplayPort)
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows operating systems (macOS and ChromeOS a plus)
- Diagnose, repair, and replace computer hardware and peripherals (e.g., monitors, keyboards, printers)
Required Qualifications
- Strong customer service orientation and teamwork
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic understanding of networking concepts
- Familiarity with asset management and ticketing systems (e.g., Jira Assets)
- Experience with remote support tools (e.g., RDP, RustDesk, Dameware)
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing computer hardware and peripherals
- Experience troubleshooting Windows OS environments
- 1–2 years of hands-on experience in IT support, helpdesk, or workstation technician roles
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced troubleshooting and project management skills
- Experience with inventory and procurement systems
- Scripting or automation experience (e.g., PowerShell, Bash)
- Experience supporting macOS and ChromeOS environments
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Interaction with staff and end users requires professionalism and clear communication
- Frequent lifting and moving of computer equipment (up to 40 lb)
- Regular travel to member site libraries
