General Statement of Duties
The Cataloging Librarian is a part-time, in-person position that provides original and copy cataloging in accordance with professional standards.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform copy cataloging of bibliographic records to allow for discoverability and equity of access to materials in the collection. This is achieved by using the Library’s ILS (Evergreen), OCLC, and other online tools to identify, edit, and import bibliographic records using Library of Congress Authorities (LC Subject Headings), Resource Description and Access (RDA) standards, and NOBLE cataloging procedures.
- Delete bibliographic records from the Library's ILS (Evergreen) and OCLC of designated deselected items as part of the Library's ongoing Collection Analysis Project.
- Perform bibliographic searches using online resources such as OCLC, vendor databases, and the Library’s ILS (Evergreen).
- Update bibliographic records' Library location field in the Library's ILS (Evergreen) and OCLC.
- Check for errors in the Library of Congress call number labels in the Library's ILS (Evergreen) of books to be shelved in the general collection.
- Physically prepare books for shelving in the general collection.
- Other Collection Management Departmental duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Master of Library & Information Science or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program at the time of hire
- Experience in cataloging
- Experience with current standards for bibliographic and authority data (MARC, RDA, LSH, LCC)
- Experience with an integrated library and associated tools, such as OCLC Connexion Client, OCLC Collection Manager, RDA Toolkit, Classification Web, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
- Evidence of effective oral, written and social communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work within a consultative team environment where collaboration is essential
- Demonstrated working knowledge of current educational technologies
- Enthusiasm for working in a multicultural environment with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles
- Fluency or ability to communicate effectively in Spanish
