Position Purpose
As a Workstation Administrator at Marmot, you'll be responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of user workstations through proactive administration and support. Leveraging your expertise, you'll configure and maintain workstation operating systems, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide timely user support across multiple channels. With a strong focus on security and compliance, you'll implement and enforce best practices while staying updated with emerging technologies, embodying Marmot's commitment to excellence in IT service delivery.
Duties & Responsibilities
Technical Support
- Respond to member questions and service requests via in-person, phone, email, and remote channels to provide comprehensive workstation support.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to workstations, including software errors, hardware malfunctions, and network connectivity problems.
- Document all member interactions, technical issues, and resolutions in the appropriate ticketing system.
- Escalate complex technical problems to specialized staff when issues exceed the scope of workstation administration.
System Administration
- Administer user accounts, permissions, and access rights on workstations to ensure appropriate security and functionality.
- Configure and maintain workstation operating systems and software applications to meet organizational requirements.
- Install and configure operating systems, software applications, and hardware components on workstations.
- Manage software updates and patches for workstation operating systems and applications to ensure optimal performance and security.
Hardware Management
- Monitor workstation performance metrics to proactively identify and address potential issues.
- Maintain working knowledge of printers and print management software used at member libraries.
Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain security measures, including antivirus software, firewalls, and endpoint protection, to safeguard workstations.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations regarding workstation security and usage standards.
- Monitor and respond to security alerts and incidents related to workstation environments.
Training & Documentation
- Deliver training sessions and workshops to end-users on IT skills, best practices, and workstation usage procedures.
- Create and maintain user-friendly documentation and step-by-step guides for common workstation procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of workstation configurations, maintenance activities, and user support interactions.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with other IT teams and vendors to resolve complex technical issues and deploy new technologies.
- Collaborate with other IT teams for on-site trips and installations.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends through continuous learning and professional development.
- Participate in testing new software and hardware solutions before organizational deployment.

Marmot is a consortium comprised of Academic, Public, and School Libraries. We provide hosted services to all our members as well as specialized IT support. This is a full time, on-site position. Our offices are located in Grand Junction, Colorado. The successful candidate will be expected to live within a 30-45-minute drive. The candidate must also have access to reliable high-speed internet.
