Assistant Director - Island Free Library
Position available July 1, 2025
Hours: 40 hours per week, including some evening and weekend hours.
Grade H - Salary Range $59,820.00-78,478.40
Town-sponsored rental housing is not available.
Purpose: Assist the Library Director in managing library operations, including staff supervision, collection development, programming, publicity, patron interaction, and daily tasks.
Key Responsibilities: Supervise staff, especially in the Director's absence and on weekends.
Manage library programs and events, including working outside regular hours as needed.
Oversee Adult Fiction, Non-Fiction, Audiobooks, and Professional Collections budgets and cataloging. Train staff and evaluate library services. Solve problems independently and collaborates with the team.
Qualifications: Master of Library Science from an American Association of Libraries-accredited institution.
Experience in adult programming and outreach to underserved populations.
Bilingual (Spanish preferred).
Skills: Strong communication, technological, and grant-writing abilities.
Ability to plan, coordinate, and maintain positive relationships with staff and patrons.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, sit, and lift up to 30 pounds.
Work Environment: Seasonal changes, moderate noise, and fast-paced conditions.
Frequent interaction with the public, staff, and community organizations.
May require nights and weekends for events.
