Job Description

The Instruction and Outreach Librarian offers a student-centered approach, providing vision and leadership in the areas of instruction and outreach. This position includes delivering reference and research services, designing and conducting instruction classes, serving as a liaison to academic departments, and contributing to collection development to support students' academic success. Responsibilities encompass providing services and resources in both physical and online library environments; utilizing exhibits, public programming, social media, and other innovative methods to engage the student community; and collaborating with campus partners on outreach initiatives to the broader community.

Additional Info & Requirements

Education: Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent

Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in providing reference services, research support, library instruction, and collection development.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with library faculty and staff, teaching faculty, and students in a rapidly changing information environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, design and implement innovative projects or services, including providing inclusive library programming for academic communities and engaging in community outreach initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop user-centered services and promotional materials.
  • Experience working in academic library settings.
  • Experience creating library guides utilizing SpringShare software.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, or other web development tools.
  • Bilingual proficiency.
