Start date:       August 26, 2025
End date:         September 30, 2025
 
Schedule:        Tuesday 9am-5pm; Wednesday 1-8pm; Thursday 1-8pm; Friday 9am-12pm; Saturday 9am-2pm
 
Pay Rate:         $17.50 per hour
CORI:               Required
 
Description:
The Berkley Public Library is seeking a friendly, dependable, helpful, customer service-oriented person to work as a Library Assistant. The Berkley Public Library is a small library and that means everyone gets to do a bit of everything. 
 
The Library Assistant performs circulation duties including:
  • Greeting library patrons
  • Checking books in and out
  • Shelving books
  • Issuing library cards
  • Answering phone calls, assisting patrons, and answering questions
  • Assisting with collection maintenance
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Computer skills
  • The ability to master the automated library system
  • The ability to work with patrons of all ages and backgrounds
  • Attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently 
  • High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree a plus
