HOURS & SALARY: Full-time, 38 hours per week, with a
hiring range of $19.95 – $24.94 per hour depending on experience.

JOB SUMMARY
The primary
responsibility of the Youth Services Event Specialist is to provide excellent
customer service through planning and implementing library events and services
to children, parents, caregivers, and educators who use library services. The
Youth Services Event Specialist provides assistance and help at customer
service points and assists the Youth Services Event Coordinator and the
Outreach Librarian with services, including events directly relating to
families, special exhibitions, and projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.
Maintains patron confidentiality in compliance
with Wyoming state law.
2.
Roves as scheduled, assisting patrons at their
point of need.
3.
Performs all aspects of the Youth Services
Assistant position.
4.
Collaborates to create and implement youth
events for children from preschool through grade six based on Common Core,
early literacy initiatives, STEAM, and other guidelines as assigned.
5.
Develops events, activities, educational
modules, and other interactive learning tools to enhance special traveling
exhibitions or projects received by the library, including outreach to schools
and facilities.
6.
Implements regular preschool storytimes,
including digital storytimes.
7.
Implements outreach storytimes in childcare
facilities.
8.
Participates in Youth Services outreach
activities, which may include operating the bookmobile and related
responsibilities.
9.
Supervises the activities of assigned
volunteers.
10. Provides
leadership and guidance to new staff members as required.
11. Serves
on committees and other groups as assigned.
12. Models
exemplary customer service and work ethic to coworkers.
13. Participates
in professional activities on a local, state, and regional level when
applicable to position or needs of the division.
14. Performs
other related and necessary duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or
university plus 2 years of relevant experience; or

The equivalent combination of education and
experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
·
Must have a current driver’s license valid in
the State of Wyoming or the ability to obtain one within six months of hire
date.

Proficiency with a variety of software programs
and systems.
·
Ability to work flexible work schedules
including weekends and holidays.
·
Ability to speak, read, comprehend and write the
English language.
·
Ability to work with limited supervision, with
an aptitude for detailed work and proficiency in prioritizing tasks.
·
Ability to supervise, coach, train and lead
other employees.
·
Ability to drive large vehicle (32 feet).

WORK SCHEDULE
Work schedule will predominantly be normal business hours
(8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. or a variation thereof) Monday through
Friday but will also include 1 weeknight and some weekends. Anyone who
works for the library must be willing to work anytime the library is open. Laramie
County Library (Cheyenne) open hours are Monday – Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00
p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. All employees are
scheduled to attend monthly staff meetings and in-service days in Cheyenne.

lifetime benefits, regardless of the account balance, when age and service
requirements are met.

holidays, vacation and sick leave, and an annual personal day.

Vacation leave starts at two weeks per year for
full-time employees and increases with years of service. Employees are eligible
to take vacation after six months of employment.

available. LCLS pays 85% of medical and dental insurance premiums.

A deferred compensation plan, prepaid legal
services agreement, vision coverage, and other supplemental insurance options
are also available at the employee’s expense.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The essential
duties and responsibilities of this job require the employee to move or
manipulate moderately heavy equipment, boxes, carts, files, and stacks of
material from one location to another.
