Job Description

Sno-Isle Libraries is recruiting for a full-time Library Associate!

Working at Sno-Isle Libraries

Public libraries are more useful—and exciting—than ever. Embark on a meaningful journey where your passion for learning, commitment to public service, and love for literature converge. Plus, you'll have access to all you can read books.

Every day is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of over 800,000 residents across two counties. Your journey towards professional growth and community connection starts here! Our libraries are the gateway to things yet unimagined, and we want you to help create that experience for future generations.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse environment, ensuring equitable access to opportunities for both personal and professional development. Join us in creating a library experience for our diverse communities, where your contributions play a pivotal role in building a more inclusive and connected future for everyone.

About the Opportunity

Clinton is a small community that serves as the primary entry point to the varied and unique rural communities that reside on Whidbey Island. The library is a vital resource to connect these communities with basic library services, safe spaces to access knowledge and resources, and equitable programming for youth, families, and adults.

A full-time Library Associate at the Clinton Library will work closely with a small team to provide skilled paraprofessional library support services, including general reference, circulation services, and basic technology troubleshooting. The successful candidate will help to lead a programming effort that will provide services and programs to adults and older adults and will collaborate with other Library Associates at nearby branches and within the team at Clinton to provide services and programs that are representative of diverse cultures and perspectives, intentionally inclusive, and accessible to everyone.

Due to programming needs and community engagement, work schedules may necessitate morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend hours in addition to availability during the five days a week the Clinton Library is open (Tuesday-Saturday). The successful candidate may be required to adapt to future schedule and location changes depending on library needs. Excellent customer service and support of equity, diversity, and inclusion are highly valued qualifications.

Please note: Because commuting to Clinton from off-island requires taking the ferry from Mukilteo, we ask all applicants to familiarize themselves with the associated costs and challenges of such a commute before applying. Thank you.
