The Rogers Free Library is a vibrant hub of learning and community engagement nestled in the scenic coastal town
f Bristol, RI. We are dedicated to providing exceptional library services and fostering a love of reading and knowledge
in a welcoming and enriching environment. Rogers Free Library spans 28,000 square feet and has recently received
a $1.9 million federal grant to update facilities and programming. It's an exciting time to bring your ideas and join our dynamic staff in

TYPE OF WORK:
The Rogers Free Library is seeking a creative, entrepreneurial, forward-thinking, and community-focused
professional to fill the position of Adult Programming and Outreach Coordinator. The successful candidate
will have knowledge of professional library principles, practices, and services, as well as a broad background
in marketing, public programming, and social media.
Individuals will be responsible for planning and executing programs for adults at the Rogers Free Library,
including marketing and promotion of events and services. This position reports to the Assistant Library Director
/Adult Services Coordinator.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
The essential functions listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that
may be performed and are not all-inclusive.
● Plans and implements a variety of library programs for the full demographic of adults.
● Networks with community partners and agencies to develop responsive programming.
● Collaborates with the Children’s Librarian and Teen Librarian to plan and implement
Intergenerational programming.
● Works with colleagues to determine the scheduling of adult programs and to ensure programs
are included in online calendars.
● Produces a monthly email newsletter/e-mail blast of library events using Mail Chimp
as well as a print edition
● Promotes library programs in-house (talking to patrons about programs, posting flyers in the
elevator, on bulletin boards, etc.), online (library’s website, Facebook, Instagram, etc.), and at
community events.
● Creates web and social media content to promote adult programs. Participates in any updates
or potential re-design of the library website.
● Schedules, travels to and implements outreach programming to deliver and promote library services.
● Manages homebound delivery services to patrons. Enroll new patrons, manage delivery of materials
and volunteer drivers.
● Gathers feedback and collects data from the community to evaluate outreach and programming
effectiveness and recommend improvements or new initiatives.
● Maintains accurate records of outreach efforts, participant engagement, and program outcomes for
assessment and reporting purposes.
● Attends and participates in regular leadership team meetings.
● Attends professional library conferences, seminars, and network committees; reads professional
literature; attends and actively participates in staff and department head meeting discussions.
● Substitutes at service desks as needed.
● Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
● Promoting library services through social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter,
newsletters, and the library website.
● How to plan and implement a variety of one-time and ongoing adult programs that appeal
to our patrons, as well as tracking and maintaining the allocated budget.
● Library policies and procedures.
● Work independently.
● Handle a great many details, often simultaneously, with accuracy and composure.
● Communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.
● Work collaboratively with other staff members in a supportive team atmosphere.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
● Master’s in either Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution or
Communications or Marketing.
● Three years as a professional or para-professional librarian preferred.
● Must be able to lift/move/carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
● Usual office working conditions. Potential minimal exposure to noise, dust, inclement
weather, temperature fluctuations.
● Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and talk for potentially long periods of time. This
includes using a computer monitor, monitor(s), keyboard, and mouse to complete many of
the daily tasks as well as usual office equipment.

This is a $57,000 per year, full-time, non-union position with 37.5 hours minimum per week. This
includes working nights and weekends e.g. for programming and outreach events. This position will
follow the Town of Bristol Employee Handbook and the Non-Union Employee Benefits Summary.
