MLC’s Library Development department provides advice and support to Mississippi’s public libraries through direct consulting and continuing education. MLC is seeking a Library Consultant to give advice, guidance, and training to public libraries based on state and federal laws, best practices, and emerging trends. Training provided to libraries includes presenting workshops, training, and special events both in person and virtually. Routine travel (both day and overnight trips) in an agency vehicle is required. This position is expected to develop special projects and programs that contribute to the development of public library services and to maintain confidentiality when required.

Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a Master’s Degree and 0-2 years of experience. **Agency Preferred Qualifications: A Master's Degree in Library Science, and a minimum of two (2) years' experience in public libraries. Preference may be given to those with managerial, administrative, or public speaking experience.
Salary range is $43,509.31 to $50,000 dependent on experience with state benefits.
