Rogers Free Library seeks to fill two part-time Library Assistant positions at various service desks. These positions report directly to the relevant service desk department head and will primarily serve patrons in the library.
These positions are needed to fill hours for 20 hours per week. Shifts typically are 1 -5, 5-8, or 1-8 pm. May also include morning and Saturday shifts, as needed. The starting pay rate is $17.00 per hour.
These positions will remain open until filled, but priority will be given to applications received by Monday, March 2, 2026.
Tasks of position include:
Complete circulation duties in the ILS system including checking materials in/out, registering patrons for cards, locating materials online and in the library; maintaining patron privacy
Assist patrons with using and accessing library services and resources.
Assist in responding to calls for help with troubleshooting and solving hardware and software problems.
Promote library resources and programs.
Maintain the accuracy of items on the reserve and collection shelves.
Serve at the circulation or reference desks during shifts.
Set up book carts for Library Page to shelve materials efficiently.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required with advanced study (Associate’s degree or higher) desirable.
Demonstrated “people” skills, both in person and over the phone, secured through retail, library, customer, or other public service experience. Previous library experience is desirable.
Good work ethic including punctuality in reporting for work, organizational skills, thoroughness in work completion, attention to detail.
Ability to learn new and emerging technologies
Ability to understand and utilize IT best practices
Ability to work well with the public and collaboratively as a member of a team.
Proficiency in computer skills and willingness to learn new applications.
Usual office working conditions. Potential minimal exposure to noise, dust, inclement weather, temperature fluctuations.
Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and talk for potentially long periods of time. This includes using a computer monitor, keyboard, and mouse to complete many of the assigned tasks as well as usual office equipment.
Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.
