Job Description

Join a dynamic and community-focused library system dedicated to serving the residents of Cumberland County and surrounding areas through innovative programs, diverse collections, and exceptional customer service. This leadership role offers the opportunity to manage a vibrant branch, guiding a team of supervisors and staff to deliver efficient, welcoming, and high-quality library services. The position oversees all aspects of branch operations, including Adult, Youth, and Circulation Services, while fostering a positive environment for both customers and employees. You will play a key role in ensuring a safe, secure, and well-maintained facility that meets the evolving needs of the community.  Examples of Duties

       ·        Hires, supervises, trains, evaluates, and schedules branch staff to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and achievement of library goals
·        Ensures the safety and security of staff and customers, and maintains the building and grounds in a clean, safe, and functional condition
·        Collaborates with the Branch Team Lead to support staff development, performance, and overall branch operations
·        Models and enforces exceptional customer service standards, ensuring responsive, respectful, and solution-oriented interactions across all service areas
·        Addresses and resolves customer concerns professionally and in a timely manner, coaching staff through complex or sensitive situations
·        Oversees all branch services, including Adult Services, Youth Services, and Circulation Services, to ensure efficient and effective operations
·        Conducts regular staff meetings and promotes clear, consistent communication across departments and team members
·        Provides advanced reference and readers’ advisory services to meet diverse customer needs
·        Plans, implements, and evaluates branch programming, including budgeting and supply management, to align with system goals and community needs
·        Monitors facility and technology issues, coordinating with county departments to ensure timely resolution and maintain customer-ready spaces and resources

Additional Info & Requirements

Driving is an essential function of this position.  Candidate must have or obtain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License within sixty (60) days of employment and maintain the license with an acceptable driving record.  

Background check with local law enforcement agency required.
