Supervises, trains, schedules, and evaluates Youth Services staff to ensure high-quality customer service and adherence to library policies and procedures
Participates in the recruitment, selection, onboarding, and development of Youth Services personnel
Provides reference assistance, readers’ advisory, and information services to children, teens, parents, caregivers, and educators
Assists customers with technology-related questions and promotes the use of library resources and digital services
Serves as acting branch supervisor in the absence of the Branch Manager, providing operational oversight and staff support
Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates engaging, age-appropriate programs for youth from birth through grade 12
Plans and maintains a comprehensive schedule of library and outreach programs designed to meet the educational, informational, and recreational needs of youth and their caregivers
Promotes Youth Services programs and resources through community outreach activities, including school visits, childcare center visits, informational fairs, and partnership events
Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations, schools, and agencies that serve children and families

Experience in providing services to youth is preferred.
Driving is an essential function of this classification. Must have or obtain and maintain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License within sixty (60) days of employment and maintain license with an acceptable driving record.
This position involves working with juveniles less than 18 years of age and may be required to undergo a fingerprint-based criminal history check conducted by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) in accordance with Session Law 2025-16.
Background check with local law enforcement agency required.
