The Montrose Regional Library District is seeking a diligent and self-motivated Youth and Teen Services Collection Development Librarian to join our CORPS department (Cataloging, Ordering, Receiving, and Processing Services). We value candidates who can keep a confident and positive attitude while navigating the public library environment; possess strong communication and organizational skills; and are comfortable with people of all ages and from all backgrounds. An ideal candidate will possess Spanish-language ability (nearly a quarter of our population are native Spanish speakers).
The Youth and Teen Collection Librarian selects juvenile and young adult materials in all formats by evaluating and analyzing the collection areas, researching available material, ordering material through library sanctioned vendors. Creates weeding reports and manages inventory for youth and teen services departments.

The starting rate for this position is $41,700 annually, with an additional increase for a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (or related field) from an ALA-accredited university; we will also provide an increase for proficiency in Spanish.
Job Functions:
● Acquires and maintains knowledge of and performs duties in alignment with public librarianship best practices and ethical standards, as well as state and local guidelines.
● Selects juvenile and young adult materials in all formats by evaluating and analyzing the collection areas, researching available material, ordering material through library sanctioned vendors. Creates weeding reports and manages inventory for youth and teen services departments.
● Collaborates with department heads to develop and track collection development budgets.
● Collaborates with department heads to review and respond to materials challenges.
● Receives incoming library materials and prepares them for cataloging.
● Responds to staff, patron, and volunteer request via phone and email.
● Researches and proposes relevant new products and procedures.
● Assists in directing volunteers.
● Serves as a resource person in matters relating to collection development, cataloging and database maintenance.
● Maintains membership in relevant professional organizations.
● Attends professional meetings, conferences, and training sessions for professional development.
● Initiates, participates, and collaborates with MRLD staff on projects and committees.
● Utilizes Microsoft Windows and Office applications, Integrated Library Systems, and related technologies.
● Performs all other duties as assigned.
