Under the direction of the Robert L. Carothers Library's Head of Access Services, the Information Services Technician I will provide assistance to library users and respond to a wide variety of user needs at the Circulation Desk.

The Information Services Technician I will be one of two full-time staff who close the Library on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Information Services Technician I, in conjunction with other full-time staff, is also responsible for the training and supervision of student employees.

• The regular work schedule, Fall and Spring Semesters,  for this position is Thursday through Monday, 12:30pm to 8:30pm.  Days off are Tuesday and Wednesday.
• During the Summer & Spring Break & Winter Intersession - that schedule is subject to change.

It utilizes a semester-based academic calendar.  The University of Rhode Island has three campuses:  Kingston (the main campus); Narragansett; and Providence.

The University Libraries were founded in 1892.  The main library moved to its present location on the Kingston Campus in 1964.   In 2009, the main library was named the Robert L. Carothers Library.  There are two branch libraries serving the University of Rhode Island community:  The Pell Marine Science Library on the Narragansett Campus and the Feinstein Providence Campus Library in Providence.
