Under the direction of the Board of Library Trustees, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides strategic leadership for AACPL and oversees the delivery of library services, programs, collections, and community resources throughout Anne Arundel County. The CEO advances the library’s reputation and impact locally, statewide, and nationally through advocacy, partnership development, and promotion of AACPL’s mission and services. The CEO establishes organizational priorities and directs the effective stewardship of the library’s workforce, operating and capital budgets, facilities, and long-range capital planning. The CEO leads a high-performing Executive Team and fosters a culture of excellence, innovation, transparency, accountability, and public service. The CEO serves as an ex officio member of both the Board of Library Trustees and the Library Foundation Board of Directors.

The Anne Arundel County Public Library has engaged the library consulting firm June Garcia, LLC to assist with this recruitment. Library Consultant Sari Feldman is also working with Ms. Garcia on this recruitment.
Initial review and evaluation of candidates will be conducted by the Board’s CEO Search Committee and June Garcia, LLC upon receipt of completed materials.
Virtual screening interviews will be conducted by the search committee and the consultants. It is anticipated that these interviews will last 45-50 minutes.
The final interview process will be conducted on site in Anne Arundel County. It is anticipated that it will consist of a variety of activities held over three days, which may include a tour of some library facilities, Q&A sessions with library staff, meet and greet sessions with community stakeholders, and an interview by the Board of Library Trustees.
The following timeline, subject to change, has been established:

- Onsite final interviews: October 21 – 23, 2026
