Job Description

The faculty of the Library and Information Science (LIS) Program in the College of Education at the University of Denver (DU) invites applications from senior candidates to join the ALA accredited library and information science program. Faculty members are expected to integrate scholarship with a commitment to teaching and engagement with the community, and contribute to the leadership of the LIS Program. The DU LIS Program prepares library and information professionals to serve diverse users in dynamic, evolving environments. Our curriculum allows students to take courses in the following areas: Archives and Records Management, Cataloging, Library and Information Technology, Knowledge Management, School Libraries, and Reference and User Services. We seek a colleague who will embrace this integrative, student-centered perspective, and whose research interests and expertise both complement and extend those of the existing faculty. LIS faculty take leadership roles and work collaboratively in program, college, campus and community environments. LIS faculty advise and supervise students, teach core and specialized courses at the graduate level, serve on LIS, College of Education and University committees, and maintain working relationships with colleagues in other academic units and information professionals in the Rocky Mountain region and beyond. As a senior faculty member it is expected that the successful candidate will serve as a mentor to LIS colleagues and junior faculty.
