Location: Ross-University Hills Branch Library, 4310 E. Amherst Ave. at S. Birch St. Background Information: Become a Librarian at the Ross-University Hills Branch and bring a fast-paced, materials-rich environment to customers of all ages. The key role of this branch will be to meet the needs of the library customer who is looking to the library to provide the newest and most popular materials. A strong emphasis will be placed on providing materials and reference services in an exciting, efficient and merchandised environment. Duties and Responsibilities: Creates lifelong library customers by implementing library services designed for customers of all ages seeking popular materials and quick service. Provides readers advisory and reference assistance. Designs engaging displays and participates in merchandising of the entire collection. Participates in programming, community outreach and collection maintenance activities. Communicates effectively about issues and initiatives with customers, staff, and administration. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of publishing trends. Knowledge and experience with developing and presenting story times for young children. Skill in eye-catching display design and merchandising of library materials. Skill in providing reference, reader’s and media advisory service to all ages. Ability to thrive working in an environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds and age groups. Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and a sense of humor in working with customers, coworkers, and community. Ability to creatively problem-solve, negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner. Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Ability to demonstrate innovation and flexibility. Ability to perform dynamic story times for a wide age range. Must be fearless, flexible, and fun. Spanish language fluency is a definite plus.
