Librarian Job Description
Assures that customers receive efficient and courteous service
Acts as the librarian for two Denver campuses
Collects, organizes, disseminates and controls information from a wide variety of internal and external sources
Builds a collection of information sources to meet the specific needs of the academic departments of the University
Directs the classification, indexing, cataloging, housing and circulation of books, periodicals, papers, CD’s, videos, and other materials relevant to CTU programs
Maintain EOS ILS
Creates and maintains a program for student and faculty awareness and use of library services and materials
Maintains adequate technology to support customers and the administrative functions of the library
Initiates purchase of new books, periodicals and other resources as needed to provide current materials for existing programs and future expansion of programs
Obtains specific resources as requested by customers within the limits of budgetary constraints
Collects and analyzes use and collection statistics, to spot institutional trends
Information is also used to meet requirements from national agencies and accreditation committees
Oversees the Inter- Library Loan process for faculty and students
Organizes operations for efficiency. Documents, processes and trains staff as appropriate
Supplies classes and individuals with instruction in how to use the library for research and class assignments
Classes presented on all defined campuses. Collaborates with other CTU librarians on the content and design of library website and online research guides
May instruct one class per term Conducts orientations for new students on the CTU campus
Supervises library work-study assistants, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance reviews
Provides reference, search, and bibliographic assistance to individuals within the CTU community
Gives phone and email assistance to all CTU students
Provides specialized customer service
Staffs the circulation/reference desk as needed
Performs all other duties as assigned
Travel between Denver campuses required
Required Skills
A minimum of three years of management experience in a library setting is required
Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
Frequent interaction with customers in person, as well as through the telephone and email
Requires excellent communications and customer service skills
Required Experience
A Master’s Degree from an ALA accredited university is required
