Job Description

Coordinates automation and technology services and provides technology training to SCKLS member libraries. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Coordinates automation and technology services to member libraries including advising and assisting in the selection of hardware and software; maintenance and repair; evaluation and improvement of library technology; and consulting and phone support. Develops and provides technology training to member libraries in group and individual settings in areas such as Microsoft, library automation, personal productivity and web-based applications. Manages SCKLS technology grant programs Manages SCKLS video-conferencing equipment and rooms and provides training and support for distance learning tools such as Polycom, Elmer and Elluminate. Works cooperatively with SCKLS staff in the planning and delivery of technology services Represents SCKLS at technology-related meetings Manages SCKLS South Central Kansas Area Network (SCKAN) Member ListServ’s Other duties assigned by the Director

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Maintain, troubleshoot and problem-solve technology and software issues; Utilize multiple library automation systems; plan and teach technology topics to varied levels of users; utilize and train member libraries in the use of Microsoft software applications; ability to provide consultant services in the areas of automation, Internet and technology; ability to read, write and communicate effectively; experience in budget preparation and management; knowledge of grant writing and grant management; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; ability to communicate effectively with individuals with varied levels of technology skills / knowledge; ability to foster and maintain positive working relations with member librarians and staff. The Community

The South Central Kansas Library System welcomes applications for the position of Automation and Technology Coordinator. The new position will work in cooperation with a team that includes the Director of Information Technology, two Automation and Technology Consultants and one-half time Library Support Specialist to provide technology training and coordinate automation and technology services to public, school, academic and special libraries in a twelve county service area.

1. Master’s of Library Science from an American Library Association accredited program or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of library experience. 2. Three to five years of library automation and technology experience 3. A valid Kansas driver’s license and safe driving record required
