Job Description

Requisition Number: 11-0509-A Starting Rate: $10.06/hour Salary Range: $10.06 – $12.88/hour Opening Date: Thursday, May 5, 2011 Closing Deadline: Monday, May 23, 2011, at 8:30 a.m. About the Position The Library Shelver position is responsible for routine library work, concerning primarily the sorting and shelving of library materials, and performing other tasks to keep the collections in order. This is a part-time (15 hours/week) non-benefited position. Hours are: Monday (5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.); Wednesday (4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.); Saturday (1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m. to 5 p.m.). Position Requirements Required: •Graduation from, or current enrollment in, high school •Demonstrated ability to perform essential job functions •Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age or older Preferred: •General knowledge of arithmetic, numbers, and the alphabet •General knowledge of standard office and clerical practices •Working knowledge of policies and procedures, and terminology used within the library •Working knowledge of classification systems used by the library
