Job Description

Supervises library assistants, couriers, pages, other temporary staff, and volunteer staff as assigned. Oversees the serials module of the online public access catalog, including serials check-in and database maintenance; works with serials liaisons at all facilities to order, renew, cancel, and claim subscriptions. Supervises the centralized receiving office for the library system; monitors incoming orders for fulfillment of processing and title requirements; receives library materials into the online catalog; prepares invoice vouchers; works closely with administrative staff to resolve payment issues. Maintains daily contact with numerous library vendors, publishers, and distributors to correct invoices and resolve delivery, processing, and other problems. Supervises mail pickup and delivery services, including library and city couriers, UPS, FedEx, and USPS. Assists in developing, implementing, and revising policies and procedures; recommends and implements new techniques, programs, and services. Provides instruction in the use and operation of on-line computer catalog, CD/ROM, electronic databases (OCLC) and other library resources. Researches and resolves patron complaints and problems regarding library materials and services. Represents the library at professional meetings and conferences to provide and obtain materials and services. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Additional Info & Requirements

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the serials and acquisitions applications of an integrated library system, particularly Horizon.
