Job Description
Includes general library circulation work. Creates positive experiences for library customers by helping patrons locate materials, checking out and returning library materials, registering customers for library cards, placing holds, etc. This position will also assist the Interlibrary Loan and Acquisitions department. The schedule will be determined by the needs of the department and will include evening and weekend hours. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of office practices and procedures. Skilled in operating a computer, working with attention to detail, and ability to make simple mathematical computations. Skilled in interpreting, communicating and presenting information. Ability to create and maintain positive staff relationships. Ability to thrive working in an environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds and age groups. Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and a sense of humor in working with customers, coworkers, and community. Ability to creatively solve problems, negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner. Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Experience: One year of experience in library circulation, including experience providing customer service and resolving customer issues.
