Job Description

Responsibilities: The Auraria Library at the University of Colorado Denver has an opening for a full-time Library Technician III in the Information Delivery Services Department. This position is responsible for the overall operation of the ASK US desk on the weekend and weekdays. This position serves library users directly from the ASK US Desk and assists the Head of Information Delivery Services. Specific duties include opening the library weekday mornings and weekends; addressing, reporting, and resolving facility problems and emergencies, patron incidents, building security issues, and computer troubleshooting occurring throughout the library on weekends; managing the daily operations of the ASK US Desk and resolving patron disputes; providing direct assistance to patrons which includes answering patron inquiries, advising users of library policies, retrieving Reserve materials in person or by phone and handling patron complaints; creating Prospector, circulation and usage statistics reports for Head of Information Delivery Services; generating patron correspondence and weekend patron notice processing; delegating searches for missing materials; possessing Prospector Statewide Catalog document delivery lending and borrowing materials; overseeing and promoting new library services; managing supplies and equipment needs; and assessing staffing/student needs, justifying staffing levels and assigning duties to ensure coverage of all hour of operation. This position acts as Lead Worker for Reserves, processes, circulates, and maintains the library reserve, media and video collections.

Preferred Qualifications: *Experience and working knowledge of reserving library materials and utilizing library search tools which includes the ability to search and retrieve information from electronic databases and computer systems. *Experience utilizing an electronic database to create, revise, compile, analyze and maintain statistics and reports. *Experience providing assistance and training to faculty, staff, students and patrons in a higher education setting library. *Experience creating, updating and implementing polices, processes and procedures. *Experience dealing with emergent situations and security. *Experience assigning and monitoring the work of others. *Experience working with Reserves and Interlibrary loan; this experience should also include working with Docutek. *Experience opening and closing buildings and offices.
