Job Description

The Auraria Library at the University of Colorado Denver has an opening for a full-time Library Technician II (Serials Acquisitions Specialist) in the Acquisitions Department. This position is responsible for overseeing the check-in process and claiming of print serials, including periodicals and standing orders. This position will also be responsible for supervising student workers which includes assigning and monitoring duties, scheduling work hours, and providing training. Analytical and problem solving skills are required for this position in order to accurately process serials. Specific duties include resolving complex problems; overseeing student help with standing orders, microforms and print periodicals; processing claims and managing ongoing record maintenance of the library's database. Programs used within this position include Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and the Millenium Serials module of Innovative Interfaces Incorporated (III). This position will be expected to develop good working relations with vendors and have the ability to problem solve by using good judgment and professionalism.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of general library experience including typing, ordering, preparing, shelving and maintaining library materials. One year of this experience must have included working with an integrated library system SUBSTITUTION: Two years of college course work including twelve semester hours of library science course work may be substituted for the two years general library experience. Preferred Qualifications: *Experience working with Serials (preferred to have this experience within a higher education library environment) *Experience utilizing subscription agencies such as EBSCO and Harrassowitz. *Experience utilizing Millennium Serials module of III. *Experience accurately entering and tracking data *Use of Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel) to create, update and maintain correspondence, reports, statistics and spreadsheets. *Experience supervising students and/or others including assigning and monitoring work duties and hours.
