Acquisitions Librarian Job Number: 1100002494 Description Health, Education, and Social Programs Community & Social Programs Division Fairfax, Virginia Recruiter - Jamila Wanza - jwanza@icfi.com Job Description: As an Acquisitions Librarian you will be responsible for purchasing and cataloging of new material for the Child Welfare Information Gateway, a federal clearinghouse. Key Responsibilities: ? Purchases new material for the Information Gateway Library. ? Prepares and checks batches for abstractor. ? Support research needs of client and staff. ? Catalogs items for BASIS database; maintains and updates Thesaurus. ? Scans journals for relevant articles to add to BASIS. ? Receives new materials, checks in journals, verifies invoices, maintains accounts and arranges vendor payment. ? Handles inter-library loans, incoming and outgoing. ? In rotation with the other Librarians, sends out alerts, Child Welfare in the News, etc. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: ? Masters degree from an ALA Accredited Library School ? 2 years of professional library experience preferred. ? Experience with book & journal vendors. ? Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) Preferred Skills/Experience: ? Some experience cataloging. ? solid reference skills. Professional Skills: ? Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills ? Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment ? Ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors ? Excellent problem solving skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions ? Strong oral and written communication skills ?
