Job Description

Location: Woodbury Branch Library, 3265 Federal Blvd. at W. Thirty-third Ave. Status/Schedule: Regular, part-time, 30 hours per week. It is anticipated that this position will become 40 hours per week in early 2013. The schedule will be determined by the needs of the department and may include evening and weekend hours. Salary Range: $19.09 - $23.48 per hour starting salary range; $19.09 - $27.88 per hour full salary range. The City and County of Denver benefit package will be offered. Duties and Responsibilities: Creates positive experiences for library customers by supporting the needs of library users of all ages and backgrounds. Prepares and presents informational and educational materials. Provides intergenerational programs for children and adults. Conducts subject research and documentation. Provides library services and resources to a diverse customer base that includes new immigrants and their families. Focuses on adult programming with concurrent children’s programs as part of a bilingual and intergenerational environment. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of training and development practices. Knowledge of library operations, research resources and reader guidance. Skill in designing, preparing, training, implementing and evaluating programs. Skill in communicating and establishing effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, organizations and the public. Skill in presenting information to groups of adults and youth in an intergenerational environment. Skill in reading aloud clearly, concisely and with expression. Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, and decision making in solving problems and meeting organizational objectives. Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision making in solving problems and meeting organizational objectives. Ability to relate to the needs of patrons of all ages. Ability to thrive working in an environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds and age groups. Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and a sense of humor in working with customers, coworkers, and community. Ability to research and compile information. Ability to make appropriate choices of materials for programming and outreach. Experience: Two years of experience teaching or presenting information in a variety of situations and settings. General computer literacy, including experiences with Internet and database searching. Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field. Special Requirements: A background check must be passed after the offer to hire has been made. Must have a valid Colorado driver’s license.
