Job Description

The Eagle Valley Library District, in the heart of the Colorado Rockies, seeks a seasoned library administrator to serve as the Library Director. Under the guidance and policy direction of a 5-member Board of Directors, the Library Director is responsible for managing all available resources to increase use of the library and to develop maximum educational, recreational and cultural impact. Responsibilities include administering the professional, business, personnel and financial activities of the District; overseeing the care and maintenance of the District library buildings, equipment, and systems; and formulating budget, policies and programs for review and direction by the Trustees. The District seeks a dynamic individual with: • Experience in budget development, financial management, human resources, and facilities management. • Effective communication skills. Experience and comfort with public speaking, as well as working constructively with governmental and community partners. While proficiency in Spanish is not a requirement, the candidate should have the ability to accommodate the needs of the Spanish-speaking clientele of the District. • Understanding of relevant technology and its implications to the library’s functions and operations and its future.

With a staff of approximately 40 employees, the Eagle Valley Library District serves the reading, information, entertainment, and educational needs of over 52,000 county residents. The Library District operates three branches (in Avon, Eagle, and Gypsum, Colorado) and boasts a total collection of over 180,000 volumes.
