Job Description

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs, Kraemer Family Library, is seeking an Electronic Resources Acquisitions Professional. This position works within the Technical Services Department of the Library under the supervision of the Head of Technical Services. The Technical Services Department of the Kraemer Family Library is responsible for identifying, acquiring, cataloging, providing metadata, creating and maintaining knowledgebases, processing, and providing and maintaining timely intellectual access to a wide range of information resources in multiple formats in direct support of the teaching and research missions of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. As more information resources become available electronically, it is increasingly important to have library staff who are dedicated to managing the processes involved with their acquisition and maintenance. This position exists to perform the ordering, licensing, renewal, payment and maintenance activities involved in acquiring and making available a wide range of e-resources including e-journals, databases, and ebooks. This position monitors the electronic resources acquisition budget, anticipates and resolves order problems, communicates information about e-resources, and documents procedures and best practices for the tasks involved in e­resource acquisition. This position works under the direction of the Head of Technical Services and coordinates activities related to electronic resources with the Electronic Resources and Serials Librarian. This position also works closely with library faculty, publishers, vendors, library consortia, CU System Libraries, and CU System Contracts Administrators on the many processes involved in acquiring and making an e-resource available. At some future time, this position may also provide reference desk coverage, including interpretation and instruction in the use of electronic resources.

Additional Info & Requirements

Required: • Bachelor's degree. • Three years of library work experience, including work in the areas of acquisitions, cataloging, or serials. Coursework in these library science areas at the Master's level may be substituted for years of experience. • Experience working with the acquisitions module of a library automated system, preferably Innovative Interfaces, Inc. Preferred: • Master's Degree from an ALA-accredited Library Science program. • Experience working with vendors or publishers. • Experience working with or knowledge of reference services. • Work experience in an academic library. • Budgetary experience or knowledge of business processes involved with invoice payment and account reconciliation. • Supervisory experience.
