Job Description
Manages library department to oversee planning for and provision of reference services, print and non-print collection development, and program and outreach services. Coordinates planning and development of special events for the department to include logistics, programming and volunteer recruitment and scheduling. As a member of the Library management team, studies, recommends, and implements policies and procedures to improve department and employee productivity and upgrade public services. Provide training and education to subordinates required for the performance of their assigned duties and professional development. Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow for library department. Issues written and oral instructions to subordinates on work product, priorities, timelines, and task specification. Assigns duties and examines work for neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures. Work with staff to maintain an effective work environment and resolve staff conflicts and concerns. Supervises department staff, prepares employee evaluations, and recommends hiring, disciplinary action and, termination. Participates in the creation and regular revisions of library planning documents and implements at the Department level. Compiles budget data and develops the proposed Department budget for review by the Director. Assists the general public in accessing and using library resources both in-house and on-line.HR Info
