Job Description

The Colorado State Library offers a friendly but quiet work environment (high drama is noticeably absent). The position involves stable, part-time work with consistent hours (10-2), and varied tasks throughout the year. The person in this position will provide support to two offices, including several staff members in remote locations. Details can be viewed on the formal job description linked below. Don’t be freaked out by the long list of tasks, though; many of these are occasional, not daily. Comfort with technology and communication tools is considered a key part of the job of supporting our offices. Knowledge of library jargon is not required, but a person hired into this role can expect overexposure to plenty of acronyms.

Additional Info & Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: • Minimum three (3) years of experience in an administrative support position. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access. • Technical proficiency with Google applications such as Gmail and GoogleDocs. • Ability to prioritize among multiple project demands. • Eye for organization and ability to keep workspace clean and neat. • Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Experience serving as part of a collaborative team, including taking initiative, anticipating needs, and providing internal customer service. • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds. • The ability to pass a background check. Preferred: • Experience with web and social software content maintenance such as Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. • Experience with Microsoft Publisher, Photoshop Elements, or other graphic tools. • Experience and ability with design of flyers and other marketing materials.
