Job Description

Position Description Adams State University seeks an energetic and collaborative librarian to serve as its Library Director. Adams State University is a Hispanic-serving liberal arts institution in rural Colorado in the San Luis Valley. This person will work with library staff, campus administrators, faculty, and students to direct the overall administration, program planning, policy development, budget and resource allocation for the Nielsen Library. The successful candidate will provide excellent leadership and promote the library as an integral part of the campus and community. Summary of Responsibilities • Directs Library operations and provides leadership and implementation for strategic planning • Promotes the importance of library programs and services throughout the campus, the community, and the state • Directs personnel management within the library, including recruitment, evaluation, development, mentoring and retention of staff • Prepares the budget and maintains compliance with University fiscal policies • Demonstrates awareness of emerging technologies and trends in academic libraries • Manages library collections, programs, and services using assessment tools to inform changes • Works collaboratively with library staff to promote delivery of strong customer-service • Oversees building maintenance, including auxiliary departments housed in the library • Works at service desks, including occasional evening and weekend rotations
