Job Description

The e-Marketing Specialist position is responsible for marketing of the district via strategic oversight, implementation and daily management of all district online marketing and social media initiatives. This position will be responsible for engaging both internal and external audiences, and creating dynamic, relevant communications consistent with the district’s brand and goals. The position monitors internet trends and e-marketing best practices. Work is performed under general supervision. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: • Increases visibility, community engagement, and overall patronage of the district through effective, strategic and consistent social networking efforts. • Creates and maintains a comprehensive social media policy. Coordinates annual social media strategies for the district. • Executes all online promotions for the district in the form of advertising and viral marketing. • Creates and maintains tracking and monitoring methods and measurement tools for all online and social networking activities for the district. Regularly reports metrics and related web analytics. • Coordinates all e-mail marketing efforts consistent with overall marketing plans and strategies. Updates and maintains all e-mail databases, monthly e-newsletters, etc. • Coordinates and/or creates regular social media content to all applicable social media outlets. Cultivates new communities and manages branded online communities on the district’s behalf using Facebook MySpace, Twitter, YouTube and other emerging social media outlets. • Monitors trends and the latest applications in e-marketing, interactive and social media and appropriately applies that knowledge at the district. • Assumes responsibility for ensuring that representation of the district’s brand is consistent and present throughout all online mediums (website, online advertisements, e-marketing campaigns and social networking channels. • Partners with other district departments to ensure proper online messaging and relevancy, ensuring consistency of messages across multiple networks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Must possess a solid understanding of the social media universe (such as YouTube, Twitter, Flickr, Facebook), forums, wikis and blogs. • Extensive knowledge and experience in marketing, communications, journalism (including proofreading) and media relations is required. • Project management experience and knowledge is required. • Must have the ability to stay abreast of innovative and emerging social media outlets and marketing philosophies. • Exhibits excellent organizational skills and flexibility/adaptability in managing multiple tasks. • Possesses strong creative instincts and the ability to “think outside of the box." • Must have the ability to learn and become proficient in skills, functions and technology required to perform job duties, working effectively independently or as part of a team to complete tasks as assigned. • Must communicate effectively using English. Must read, write and understand English at a level appropriate to the position.

Additional Info & Requirements

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally performed in an office and library environment, at computer workstations, on multiple tasks, software programs, and projects. Work may be performed in a virtual or contact center environment. Work requires constant sitting and computer work, moderate physical activity, close visual work; with limited proximity to automated handling equipment, limited exposure to moderate noise levels, residual dirt, dust, and occasional exposure to chemicals, mold or foreign substances. Work involves extensive interaction with customers and staff, moderate exposure to behavior issues, and may require regular travel. May require varied work hours, including weekends and evenings, which may change periodically.• Experience: A minimum of two years combined progressive experience in online and/or social networking marketing is required. An eMarketing certification is a plus. Extensive experience with marketing is strongly preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
