Job Description
The Library Associate II - Youth Services position is paraprofessional library work assisting the Youth Services Coordinator in the operation of the Youth Services area, assisting with services and programs for children and young adults, performing technical and complex library duties, and assisting in providing readers’ advisory, collection development, and reference services including patron education on the use of electronic devices and resources. Incumbent must be available to work all assigned shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and some holidays. This position requires work be split between both the College Hill Library and Irving Street Library. Irving Street : Tuesday 5 pm–8 pm, Wednesday 9 am–1 pm, Thursday 8 am–5 pm College Hill : Saturday 12 pm–5 pm & every 8th Sunday 12:45 pm–5 pm Position Requirements Required: • Must be 18 years of age or older • Graduation from High School or GED • Possess a valid Colorado Driver License and maintain a safe driving record Preferred: • Graduation from a four-year college or university • Experience working with children in a daycare, preschool, elementary school, or children’s department of a public or school library • Experience in adult services and/or teen services, or general library experience • Working knowledge of children’s and young adult literature • Experience in planning and implementing programs for children and young adults Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.The Community
