Job Description

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing and promoting library services, programs and outreach. It is an opportunity for the person who doesn't want to get bored doing the same thing all the time, is flexible, is not afraid of change and challenges and enjoys community connections and making a difference in people's lives. It is for the person who wants to explore new ways to make a real difference in peoples' lives. Required skills/experience: •Strong computer skills, extensive experience in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint, troubleshooting problems and working with ILS •Knowledge of and ability to use and teach electronic resources, ebooks, ereaders, emagazines, eaudio •Ability to direct the work of others; ability to supervise and coach staff •Experience in and understanding of philosophy and library usage of social media. •Ability to instruct patrons and staff in library resources and technology •Reference experience with patrons of all ages •Must be able to deal with difficult patrons and situations •Public program planning •Excellent written and oral communication skills to interact effectively with people of all ages •Thorough working knowledge of established library resources, methodology, current and future trends and specific knowledge of library technology systems and programs Essential duties: •Plans, coordinates, implements and evaluates adult and family library programs to meet community needs, expressed or perceived •Provides technology and computer assistance, troubleshooting when necessary •Provides reference services in the library, online and through ASK Colorado •Participates in the development and maintenance of the library’s webpage and social media accounts •Teaches computer classes and one on one Book a Librarian sessions •Maintains a current knowledge of books, authors and trends in library services and programs •Develops marketing materials for promoting the library, library materials and programs •Participates in the development and maintenance of library collections •Provides instruction and training to library staff •Leads library book club •Helps develop library policies and procedures

Salary is Dependent On Experience.Personal qualifications: •Must be outgoing, curious, not afraid of change or trying new things, enthusiastic, creative, positive and genuinely enjoy working with people, getting to know the community and working with community members and groups to ensure the library’s central role •Self starter with strong organizational and time management skills, able to work independently to solve problems, generate new ideas and follow through •Views every interaction as an opportunity to be part of a positive overall experience for the patron and generate goodwill through cheerful, friendly, professional, courteous assistance •Ability to maintain flexibility to adapt to a variety of workload assignments •Must have a collaborative work style and enjoy being part of a team, have a “whatever it takes” work ethic and excellent public service skills Physical Requirements: Hearing and vision corrected to normal ranges. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and push a loaded book cart. Ability to bend, squat, kneel and reach between floor level and approximately 7 feet using a stepstool as needed.

The Community

Rampart Library District serves the communities of the RE-2 School District in Teller County, specifically Woodland Park, Divide, Florissant as well as unincorporated areas, a population of about 17,500. Patrons are frequently from bordering areas in Park County, Douglas County, El Paso County and the rest of Teller County. Summer residents come from out of state to enjoy the active lifestyle and scenic beauty of Pikes Peak and the Rampart Range. The main library is located in Woodland Park and is a gathering place for the residents and is actually the reason why some have relocated or retired to the “City Above the Clouds”. Rampart Library District has a branch library in Florissant about 15 miles to the west of Woodland Park. Our communities are very important to us and we reach out to meet needs in every way we can.
