Job Description

Position Title: Director of Library Services Position # 200170 Position Status: Exempt FLSA Status: Exempt Reports To: Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs Supervises: Exempt staff, classified staff, and work study or hourly students The Position: The Director of Library Services provides strategic leadership, administrative supervision and day to day reference and information literacy support for both CentreTech and Lowry campuses. The Director will be responsible for sustaining a service-orientated and innovative library to support teaching and learning. Duties and Responsibilities: •Direct all Library and Learning Resource Center programs and services, including facility use, individualized instruction, classroom instruction and other designated programs and services. •Manage a collection of learning resources (books, journals, databases, and media) that meet the evolving needs of CCA’s students, faculty, staff and programs. Balance the collection with both print and digital resources to meet users’ needs. •Coordinate technological advances in information access into the Library and Learning Resource Center and supervise ongoing programs to instruct faculty and students in such use. •Maintain knowledge of current issues and trends in academic information services such as instructional technology and design, information literacy, assessment, copyright and fair use. •Teach research methods to faculty members, and students (individually and in the classroom) including the use of library catalogs, online databases and similar resources. •Identify and acquire new research resources; conduct workshops in information access and evaluation; publicize CCA’s information services; collaborate with the faculty to select resources that support the curriculum. •Oversee all departmental operations including but not limited to budget preparation and oversight, submission of accurate required reports and library management. •Hiring, scheduling, training and evaluating all library employees. •Providing assistance and support for all library employees. •Keep abreast of trends in academic libraries, educational technologies and how the library’s role is changing. •Work with Concurrent Enrollment high schools instructors and students to ensure the same level of access to library services. •Manage physical library collection through use of and membership in AspenCat, a union catalog and integrated library system supported by the Colorado Library Consortium. Physical collection consists of approximately 10,000 items at both the CentreTech Campus (main library) and Lowry Campus (Art, Law, and Science). •Other duties as assigned. In order to perform the essential functions of this position, the individual must possess the ability to effectively communicate, concentrate, analyze data, pay attention to detail, retain learned knowledge, instruct/teach demonstrate strong organizational skills and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. Minimum Requirements •Master of Library Science or Master of Library and Information Science degree. •Minimum 3 years of demonstrated progressive experience in an academic library. •Experience supervising, training and/or directing the work of others. •Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: •Experience using existing and emerging technologies to provide and enhance library and information services •5 years of progressive experience in an academic library •Experience working with D2L •Experience managing budgets and grants •Experience in providing reference and instructional services •Experience leading and managing an innovative library learning center •Ability to work well with a variety of people and cultures •Knowledge of current academic library operations By submitting an application for this announced position, applicants are certifying that all statements, information and documents provided are true, complete and correct to the best of my knowledge and are made in good faith.
