Job Description

Full-time classified position. Duties: Manages the day-to-day operations of the Circulation Department on Friday and Saturday afternoons and other times as needed. Staffs the Circulation Service Desk. Closes the library on Friday afternoons. Opens and closes the Library on Saturdays and other times as needed. Management of the Circulation Department entails assisting patrons, troubleshooting software and/or equipment problems, and managing the facility. Daily processing of lending requests from RapidILL, Prospector, Marmot, SWIFT and OCLC within the required turnaround time. Process E-journals entirely through the computer using specialized software systems. Transfers articles received in electronic format from various software systems to the patrons. Searches for library material that is listed on the lost book list and provides research assistance to library patrons in person and virtually by conducting professional reference interview with patrons, teaching patrons how to find the information sources, explaining the arrangement of the collection and physically helping patrons find information either in the library or by requesting through inter-library loan. Ensures that loose-leaf updates and supplements are filed in a timely manner and collects and reports face-to-face, virtual and instant message reference statistics into an excel spreadsheet. Student supervision including interviewing, hiring, training, firing, scheduling, tracking performance and assigning tasks. Other related duties as assigned.

Proficiency in library computer software systems such as RapidILL, Prospector, Marmot, SWIFT and OCLC and experience searching library databases required. Must be a resident of the state of Colorado to apply. In accordance with Colorado Mesa University policy, must successfully complete a criminal background check.
