Job Description

Serves as a liaison to various disciplines including Feminist & Gender Studies, Anthropology, and History; works with librarians and staff in a highly collaborative and collegial environment to serve the students and faculty of Colorado College. Liaison and Instruction: • Keep assigned academic departmental faculty and staff informed of library services. • Coordinate services to History and Social Sciences divisions with other librarians assigned to those departments, and collaborate with liaison librarians for all academic departments in the design and delivery of library instructions programs. • Provide bibliographic instruction. • Work with the Collection Development Librarian to develop supporting collections for assigned departments. • Participate in instruction for first year experience (FYE) program. • Contribute to overall collection development decisions as a member of the Collection Development Work Group. Reference Service: • Serve as a member of the team of librarians providing reference service to library users, including instructing patrons in the use of library materials; works some evening and weekend hours. • Maintain current knowledge of both print and online sources in all academic fields of the college. • Provide office consultations for reference queries related to designated subject specializations. Leadership: • Develop special projects related to technological or service innovations as requested. Shared Professional Responsibilities: • Participate in professional development opportunities locally or regionally, as may be available. • Participate in Tutt Librarian meetings, general staff meetings, and planning events.

Closing date is midnight on August 25, 2013. This is a one-year term (interim) position. Salary to be negotiated.Required: One year of academic library experience; background in the Social Sciences; experience (theoretical or practical) delivering instruction programs; general academic reference experience.; familiarity with a broad range of research databases; knowledge of current library and social networking technology; knowledge of emerging information technologies and trends in scholarly communication; excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment. Preferred: Background in History, Feminist & Gender Studies and/or Anthropology preferred.
