Job Description

Leslie J. Savage Library, Western State Colorado University, seeks an energetic and customer service-oriented individual to join our team of library staff and student employees as Head of Access Services. The head of access services reports to the director of library services. This is a 32 hrs/week, 12-month position. The work schedule includes Sunday through Thursday. Sunday schedule is 6pm-midnight and later during final exams. Monday through Thursday schedule is afternoons and evenings. Duties: Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include participating in the daily operations of circulating library materials, including the management of the library’s online catalog and patron records, and collections maintenance. The position will also staff the public services desk; respond to questions from campus and community library patrons; and train, supervise, and evaluate more than ten student workers. Additional duties include: serving as liaison to the Marmot Library Network for managing the circulation module, working with the financial aid office regarding student work/study awards, overseeing billing and collection of library fines, preparing a variety of statistical reports, and assisting students with basic questions related to student computing. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Prior experience and aptitude for learning new computer applications. Attention to detail. Experience using tact and sound judgment when working with the general public. Excellent communication skills. Ability to perform all physical job related essential functions, with or without accommodation, such as transporting and re-shelving books. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supervising and training. Experience working in a library. Experience working with undergraduate university students.
