Job Description
1. Provides instruction for adult GED classes
2. Plans classroom activities and prepares materials
3. Administers learner intake and skills assessment
4. Completes periodic assessment and evaluation of learners’ skills acquisition
5. Coaches volunteers to assist with classroom activities and individual tutoring
6. Participates in informational outreach activities regarding PPLD’s GED services
7. Participates in department events
8. Prepares monthly department reports
9. May participate on or facilitate an official library team
10. Performs other job-related duties as assigne
Additional Info & Requirements
Applicants must complete a PPLD application in order to be considered.Requires a minimum of one year of classroom experience teaching adults as the GED instructor
Prefer candidates that have experience working with and/or supervising volunteers
Requires advanced proficiency with skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
Must commit to successful completion of LIA (Literacy Instruction Authorization) courses as well as certification
The Community
It is the mission of the Pikes Peak Library District to seek, engage, and transform lives through library services and resources that enrich individual lives and build community. This position operates in a diverse environment to help fulfill PPLD’s mission by providing classroom-based instruction for adult patrons and by participating in community outreach events to promote PPLD and its GED services. This position is funded through the Colorado Department of Education grant to provide adult education to the community. This position is projected to provide services through mid 2014, however is dependent on grant funding.
