Job Description
Location: Ross-University Hills Branch Library, 4310 E. Amherst Ave. at S. Birch St.
Background Information: Become a Librarian at the Ross-University Hills Branch and bring a fast-paced, materials-rich environment to customers of all ages. The key role of this service delivery is to meet the needs of the library customer who is looking to the library to provide the newest and most popular materials. A strong emphasis is placed on providing materials and reference services in an exciting, efficient and merchandised environment.
Duties and Responsibilities: Creates lifelong library customers by implementing library services designed for customers of all ages seeking popular materials and quick service. Provides readers advisory, reference assistance and adult programming. Designs engaging displays and participates in merchandising of the entire collection. Participates in community outreach and collection maintenance activities. Communicates effectively about issues and initiatives with customers, staff, and administration.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of publishing trends. Knowledge and experience with developing and presenting story times for young children as well as adult programming. Skill in using and assisting customers with technology. Skill in eye-catching display design and merchandising of library materials. Skill in providing reference, readers and media advisory service to all ages. Ability to thrive working in an environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds and age groups. Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and a sense of humor in working with customers, coworkers and community. Ability to creatively solve problems, negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner. Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Ability to demonstrate innovation and flexibility. Ability to perform dynamic story times for a wide age range.
Education: Master’s in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution or planning to receive one within 90 days of hire.
Experience: Experience in providing high volume, innovative library service preferred.
Special Requirements: A background check must be passed after the offer to hire has been made.

Status/Schedule: Regular, full-time, 40 hours per week. The schedule will be determined by the needs of the branch and will include evenings and weekends.
Salary Range: $19.62 - $25.50 per hour starting salary range; $19.62 - $31.39 per hour full salary range. Although the full salary range for this position is provided, starting salary is typically at or near the range minimum. The City and County of Denver benefit package will be offered.
