Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Coordinates automation and technology services and provides technology training to SCKLS member libraries. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Coordinates automation and technology services to member libraries including advising and assisting in the selection of hardware and software; maintenance and repair; evaluation and improvement of library technology; and consulting and phone support. Assists the Director of Information Technology in the management and day to day operations of the SCKLS South Central Kansas Area Network (SCKAN) regional Polaris automation consortium. Develops and provides technology training to member libraries in group and individual settings in areas such as Microsoft, library automation, personal productivity and web-based applications. Manages and maintains the SCKLS website and SCKLS Member Library Directory Manages SCKLF member library WordPress hosting project Manages SCKLS technology grant programs Works cooperatively with SCKLS staff in the planning and delivery of technology services Represents SCKLS at technology-related meetings Manages SCKLS South Central Kansas Area Network (SCKAN) Member ListServ’s Other duties assigned by the Director

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sitting, standing, walking, climbing and stooping Bending, twisting and reaching Talking and hearing; use of the telephone Lifting and carrying; 50 pounds or less Fingering, typing, writing, filing, sorting Pushing and pulling, objects weighing 60 - 80 pounds or less on wheels Mobility, travel to locations outside the SCKLS office Able to safely operate a SCKLS vehicleAbility to maintain, troubleshoot and problem-solve technology and software issues; Utilize multiple library automation systems; plan and teach technology topics to varied levels of users; utilize and train member libraries in the use of Microsoft software applications and social media applications; ability to provide consultant services in the areas of automation, Internet and technology; ability to read, write and communicate effectively; knowledge of grant writing and grant management; knowledge or ability learn to use programs/applications such as WordPress, Prezi, Adobe Acrobat Pro, GIMP, Jing, Camtasia, SurveyMonkey and Evanced web calendar/scheduling; knowledge of or ability to learn html, css, JavaScript, Ajax, PHP, ASP, MySQL, Flash; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; ability to communicate effectively with individuals with varied levels of technology skills / knowledge; ability to foster and maintain positive working relations with member librarians and staff.
