ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Knowledge of educational and recreational interests of teens. Ability to translate young adult needs and interests into effective library services and programs. Stays current on trends in library services to teens, teen literature and teen materials. Experience with K-12 education or any equivalent preferred. Ability to maintain and cultivate contact with schools, teachers, community stakeholders, other libraries, state and regional associations, and other professional organizations. Conduct community outreach to teens. Participates with others in cross-functional teams to accomplish goals and objectives. Contribute to library resources for teens including, physical and digital. This includes coordinating social media efforts and providing selection ideas for teen materials. Maintain a flexible schedule. Ability to connect and engage with teens, both online and in-person, of diverse backgrounds and varying interests. Advocate for teens both in the library and in the community.

Jefferson County Public Library seeks a vibrant, innovative and dynamic librarian to provide outreach services and make connections with the teens and tweens in Jefferson County. This position calls for an individual with a passion for teen services, who will work to engage, educate and entertain the teens and tweens of Jefferson County. The ideal candidate will deliver exemplary outreach services to teens and groups that work with teens, including community educators. The successful candidate will effectively partner with staff to deliver system wide teen services, programs, and resources serving 6th through 12th grades in both physical, phone, and digital environments. This will include contributing to a social media and web presence for teens. The candidate will serve as a spokesperson, and liaison in the community regarding teens issues, resources, programs and events. The successful candidate will design and carry out programming targeted for teens.
