Job Description

Position Summary: Appointed, Temporary. Full-Time, Monday – Friday. The University of Arizona Libraries seeks a talented, creative individual who has a passion for creating engaging and dynamic web content for great user experiences. We are gearing up for a complete main website rebuild and redesign that includes developing a new information architecture and improving the overall layout, content, and design of the website which the content strategist will play a key role in this project. This website is the gateway to library resources and services for a university with over 40,000 students and 15,000 employees. The site receives 2 million visits annually, and consists of hundreds of web pages, interacts with dozens of applications, and is edited by dozens of content providers and managers. You will work with project members and stakeholders to re-write, re-think, and re-organize content across the website, as well as workflows related to the lifecycle of web content. There are also many smaller websites and tools that require sensible workflows more usable content and other adjustments to achieve a consistent voice. The Web Content Strategist advises on issues related to content, working on all aspects of the project and contributes to developing a strategy across other channels as needed, such as email notifications and communications, videos, tutorials, and other websites and tools managed by the Libraries. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. *Define and implement a voice & tone for the redesigned library website. 2. *Curate and create new web content; write user-friendly, compelling web copy. 3. *Work with stakeholders to draft and publish updated content; includes re-writing, re-thinking, and re-organizing content across the website. 4. *Assess and improve content workflows. 5. *Document and implement best practices and style guides. 6. *Train content providers and editors on best practices in writing for the web. 7. *Conduct user research and analysis to help guide content creation and organization; this may including usability testing, focus groups, user interviews, A/B testing, and analyzing data within Google Analytics. 8. *Participate as a contributing member of the Website Steering Group and the Website Redesign Team. 9. *Collaborate closely with stakeholders across the library, including the Director of Marketing. Additional Info & Requirements

Year-to-YearMinimum Requirement: *5 years relevant experience (e.g. managing web content, developing a content strategy, writing, editing, marketing, public relations). Preferred Qualifications: (after preference for masters...) 2. *Writing and editorial experience, OR: excellent creative, written, verbal, editorial and media skills. 3. *Demonstrated experience implementing content strategy methods across a variety of channels, including website, email communications, and social media. 4. *Demonstrated experience writing engaging content for the web and a thorough understanding of effective communication in a digital environment. 5. *Experience and passion for assessing audience needs; this may include website user research, such as usability testing, card sorting, and A/B testing. 6. *Knowledge of the principles of user experience design. 7. *Experience conducting content audits, evaluating content. 8. *Experience working effectively on complex projects involving numerous stakeholders, including experience with facilitation, consensus building, and conflict resolution. 9. *Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail. 10. *Experience training staff and/or teaching courses, including building curriculum, using active learning techniques, and assessing learning outcomes. 11. *Experience with content management systems and web development technologies. 12. *Experience analyzing and improving workflows. 13. *Experience with Google Analytics and SEO best practices. 14. *Knowledge of search engine optimization techniques. 15. *Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment with changing priorities. 16. *Knowledge of best practices and emerging trends of website usability and writing for usability.
