Job Description

Texas Tech University School of Law Library is seeking applications for the position of Digital and Bibliographic Technologies Librarian. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Coordinates the use of technology for the acquisition, accessibility, and retrieval of legal information, including print, digital, and other formats; implements advances in library information discovery and access technology; plans and oversees the process of acquiring and providing user-friendly searchable bibliographic records; works cooperatively with others to evaluate and maintain licensing, database agreements, and other electronic resources; maintains and develops institutional repository; and coordinates law library staff in acquisitions, cataloging and serials. OCCASIONAL DUTIES: Participates in Reference Desk duties, including the rotation of evenings and/or weekends, assists with new law faculty orientation and the Law Faculty Advisor program; and provides instruction for students, faculty, and staff. Faculty requisition no. 87919.

The position is a full-time, 12 month, tenure-track position. This is a Security Sensitive Level I Position. Applicants for this position will be subject to a police records check and may be required to be fingerprinted.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master\\\'s degree in library/information science from an ALA accredited program; familiarity of electronic legal information resources; familiarity with file formats, media/data migration, metadata, database management, and digitization techniques; and familiarity in a library’s cataloging area with knowledge of cataloging and classification policies, practice and tools such as OCLC. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: ABA accredited JD or international equivalent; work experience in a law library or academic library; knowledge of current and emerging national cataloging standards; and knowledge of and/or experience with Innovative Interfaces Millennium system.
