Job Description

Texas Tech University School of Law Library is seeking applications for the position of Educational Technology and Reference Services Librarian. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides exceptional user experience in the law library; focuses on developing, tracking and supporting instructional tools and training others in their use to deliver effective technology-enhanced learning experiences; provides leadership in developing tools to strengthen information literacy skills, enhancing pedagogical methods, and integrating learning objectives across all platforms; plays a critical role in providing and supporting technology-enhanced instruction, including training others and implementing new instructional initiatives; provides dynamic and proactive support to the Law School’s research and learning endeavors; works as part of a reference, instruction, and research support team that interacts with the Law School and University communities and the public; and participates actively in developing and implementing the Law Library\\\'s policies, programs, and services to its community of users. OCCASIONAL DUTIES: Serves the Law Library and Law School’s faculty, students, and other customers; performs whatever tasks are assigned by supervisor(s) with the goal of first-class customer service; be readily available, visible, and accessible to faculty, students, and other customers; strives to answer inquiries and to provide proactive assistance. The position is a full-time, 12 month, tenure-track. This is a Security Sensitive Level I Position. Applicants for this position will be subject to a police records check and may be required to be fingerprinted.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master\\\'s degree in library/information science from an ALA accredited program; five years library experience; and knowledge of professional library techniques and current library practices, familiarity of electronic legal information resources; familiarity with file formats, media/data migration, metadata, database management, and digitization techniques; and familiarity in a library’s cataloging area with knowledge of cataloging and classification policies, practice and tools such as OCLC. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: ABA accredited JD or international equivalent; At least three years’ experience in a similar or related position at an academic library, Law library experience, professional experience in academia, proficiency with one or more programming languages such as HTML or CSS, and a content management system, experience in teaching, delivering legal reference service, and managing electronic resources, substantial knowledge of traditional legal bibliography and legal electronic resources, reference and instruction experience in an academic library, experience providing instructional technology support; experience participating in collaborative web application development; familiarity with XHTML, XML, or PHP, and relational databases.
